My Passion For Going To Hawaii

My Passion For Going To Hawaii Growing up in the West Coast always made me wonder what Hawaii had to offer and I was always curious about what was on those islands. This was certainly a big question mark for me but I was determined to find my way to Hawaii. After months of saving up, I was finally able to achieve my dream of visiting the most beautiful state in the country. There were a few things that stood out in Hawaii but these were some that were worth noting.

The Vintage Hawaiian Souvenirs

There is nothing better than going to Hawaii to check out the vintage Hawaiian shirts. Buying a Hawaiian shirt in the actual state makes the shirt more special and it makes it “official,” and I was so happy that I was able to finally find a nice shirt from Hawaii. I was able to also buy a lot of souvenirs for my friends and they definitely loved what I got them. Since this was my first time traveling, I expected that I would be paying a fortune but this was certainly not the case. I did not spend too much money and most of my costs came from just the plane ticket. This was certainly something that I did not expect and it made me want to come back for more.

The Hawaiian Beaches

When you think of Hawaii, the first thing that would come into your mind would be the beaches and so this is why it was such a pleasure for me to finally see what everyone was talking about. I was not sure about how nice they would be compared to the beaches in San Diego but I must admit that I was shocked. These were among the best beaches that I have ever seen, even better than the ones on TV. The nice thing about these beaches was that they were so quiet and peaceful and I was able to really indulge in the beauty of the state. Most people will admit that Hawaiian beaches are among the best in the world and will continue to a main tourist spot in AMerica.

My passion for traveling simply was sparked when I made my first trip to Hawaii and it is now my biggest hobby. Though my family was not able to come, I still bought them some beautiful Hawaiian T-shirts and a lot of pictures that will last a lifetime. Though this trip may never happen again, I will say that it is by far my favorite trip ever.

Haunted America

The Haunted America infographic from HomeAway takes us on a tour of some of America’s most haunted cities and places.  Prepare to be spooked if you visit any of these destinations.
As the site of one of the Civil War’s worst battles, there is certainly plenty of bad mojo in Gettysburg.  This Pennsylvania city is often referred to as the most haunted city in the US.
Visit Savannah for classic southern food, country hospitality – and ghost tours!
Perhaps no city celebrates their culture like New Orleans, and some of that culture is downright spooky.  Visit to see sacred Native American burial grounds and learn about mysterious voodoo rituals.
Key West was a major hub in the days of swashbuckling pirates and Captain Tony’s Saloon, site of the old hanging tree, was the end of the line for many of them.  Do dead men tell no tales?
Well documented in stories of America’s early days, Salem has many historical (and haunted) attractions to see and is also a sobering reminder of the US’s imperfect past.
Just 30 minutes from Houston, the town of Galveston has the been nearly wiped out at least twice due to hurricanes.  In 1900, a hurricane killed a quarter of the town’s residents, many of which may still haunt the local cemetaries.
From the Hollywood Sign to haunted motels and immortal movie stars, Hollywood has plenty of spooky sites to see.
Which of these haunted locales have you visited?  Which scared you the most?

Five of the Best Places to Visit in Scotland and Wales

When planning a holiday to Scotland and Wales, castles are generally the first things that come to mind.  However, although the castles are amazing, both locations have many other sights and attractions that are more than worth a visit.  Check out our list of the five best places to visit in Scotland and Wales.

Snowdonia National Park, Wales

This beautiful 800 square mile park is located in the northwest of Wales and has a very original mixture of entertainment options.  You can find everything from agriculture (including agricultural villages), recreation, and a wide expanse of stunning scenery and incredible vistas.  During your visit, be sure to take a ride on the Railway that takes you up to the top of Snowdon; the highest peak in England and Wales.  Weather could cause possible complications with your holiday so be sure to do your research before booking your trip.

Portmerion, Wales

If Snowdonia is your desired destination, you may want to look out for Portmerion as well.  It’s a tiny village that you will hit when heading towards Snowdonia and is definitely worth seeing.  Portmerion was originally established as a means of showing how beauty and development can coexist harmoniously.  You can spend the day taking a walk through the village, seeing the gardens, and doing some shopping and as far as shopping goes; you will not want to miss out on the chance to buy some of the latest classic Portmerion pottery.

The Borders, Scotland

This area of Scotland, located right along the border of Scotland and England (hence its name) has almost as much history to offer as it does beautiful scenery.  The little towns that dot the Borders map are all filled with historic tales of the battle waged against the British for Scotland’s independence.  The towns are absolutely charming and there are several places to visit within each.  The famous abbey of Melrose is worth seeing as is Jedburgh where you can visit the Mary, Queen of Scots Visitors Center.  If even more history is what you seek, Abbotsford offers a healthy helping of the literary past.

Edinburgh, Scotland

Perhaps the only downfall of Edinburgh is that it is almost always overflowing with tourists.

Top 5 Aqua Parks in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a fantastic (and popular) spot for summer holidays and is one that can be enjoyed by even the youngest family members.  To enjoy your holiday under the hot Bulgarian sun, aqua parks are a fantastic way to cool off and have fun.  Bulgaria has an array of parks to keep you cool, but these are the 5 that top our list.

Action Aquapark

Located in Sunny Beach, this park is known to have the most inspiring Black Sea Coast location.  It’s nestled onto a nice sunny spot and has something to offer every water-seeking member of your family.  There are 13 different water attractions along with restaurants and fresh drinks.  Of course, there are also several cocktail bars to help you recover from chasing your kids around the park all day.

Aquapolis

This aqua park is not only fun-filled, but also gets to boast being named the most beautiful waterpark that Eastern Europe has to offer. As an added brag-worthy fact, Aquapolis was also Bulgaria’s very first aqua park.  This park really encompasses the absolute best of all things water.  There are water attractions with names like “Wild River,” “Niagara,” “Black Hole,” and “Kamikaze.”  There are also incredible attractions for adults, such as Jacuzzis, hydro-massage, and a balneology zone.  After a long day of playing (or relaxing) hard, you can visit one of the aqua park’s appropriately named restaurants.

Kuban Aquapark

Also located in Sunny Beach, this is the oldest aqua park that the area has to offer.  The park offers attractions with thrilling names such as, “Curving Dragon,” “Braid,” and “Black Hole.”  The park also offers a couple of bars and a Mexican Restaurant that would put even the most authentic cooks to shame.  As an added bonus, guests of the hotel have all-day access!

Aqua Planet

Aqua Planet is located in the Primorkso resort and is relatively small when compared to others.  While it may not have as many attractions, it also does not have the large crowds and long lines that more popular parks force you to endure.  Aqua Planet is actually just one part of a large Sport Center that includes volleyball and basketball courts, a wellness center, and a gym.  Aqua Planet is one of those all-encompassing places that is ideal for young children, birthday parties, or family get-togethers.

Aqua Paradise

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Aqua Paradise.

5 Reasons to Visit London (that aren’t the Olympics)

By now everyone knows that the next Olympics will be held in London but what if you are distinctly underwhelmed by the thought of all that sporting activity? That doesn’t matter because London is still a great city to visit. To prove it here are five reasons to visit London that have nothing whatever to do with the Olympics.

Soak Up the Atmosphere

First of all there’s the city’ unashamedly cosmopolitan atmosphere. London’s Heathrow airport gets more traffic from international passengers than anywhere in the world and the city itself, according to recent research, has the most international visitors of any city. There are more than 300 languages spoken in London and you can eat practically any cuisine you can think of. If you want to visit a city where you can at the same time feel at home and get culturally inspired then there’s no better place than London.

Heritage and History

Next, if you want to explore our global heritage then with four World Heritage sites to its name London is a must see. These include Greenwich (the place that gave us Greenwich Mean Time or GMT), the Tower of London (in which many of the great and not so good of British history met their ends), Kew Gardens and Westminster Abbey (along with the Palace of Westminster and St Margaret’s Church).

Third, apart from heritage sites there is all the history that goes with having been a major centre for more than 2,000 years. London is chock-full of iconic landmarks and museums including Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Wembley Stadium, the British Library, the National Gallery, the British Museum, the London Eye and Wimbledon – and those are just a few. And while it may not be top of anyone’s sightseeing list you will need the London Underground (the world’s second oldest underground railway) to get around.

City Culture

Let’s not forget about culture. You could soak up the history and culture of the ages with a visit to Madame Tussaud’s or check out the most up-to-date artistic endeavours at the Tate Modern. You could explore the city on foot  bywalking along the many bridges or take a look at what’s under the water at the Sea Life Centre. Theatre is part of the lifeblood of London, too, with dozens of theatres offering performances in everything from musicals to murder mysteries.

Green London

Finally, let’s not forget about London’s open spaces. The city has a large array of parks from huge Hyde Park to small green areas tucked away at the end of narrow city streets.

4 Castles to Highlight Your Visit to Europe

Exploring the road and ruins in and around Basingstoke sweeps visitors back into Iron Age, through the days when the area was part of the Roman Empire and into the bloody years of the Civil War when Oliver Cromwell himself led the siege at Basing House. Less than 50 miles from London, these 4 castles in and near to Basingstoke make a wonderful side trip for anyone with a little time and an equal amount of imagination. A good place to start is with Basing House itself:

Basing House – Basingstoke, Hampshire

For visitors today, the oldest remains of Basing House are the defensive ditches and the huge ringwork of a castle built by the de Port family in the 1100s. The de Ports arrived in the area with William the Conqueror when he invaded in 1066. In 1535, Sir William Paulet built what was then the largest private house in the country on top of these ruins. As you enjoy the ruins and the remains of the house, picture it being attacked three times during the Civil War and finally falling in 1645 during a siege led by Oliver Cromwell. There is a fine museum as well on the property.

Odiham Castle – Odiham, Hampshire

The ruins of Odiham Castle is one of those magical places that could easily serve as a dramatic backdrop for a Hollywood director trying to create a mystical atmosphere. It is one of three strongholds that King John build during his reign. He held up there for three weeks in 1216 while under siege by French Dauphin Louis VII. During the 14th century it hosted a sitting of Parliament, and King David II of Scotland was imprisoned there for 11 years. As it is only three miles from Basingstoke, including the ruins of Odiham Castle in your tour is easy to accomplish.

Farnham Castle – Farnham, Surrey

Overlooking this historic town of Farnham and less than 30 miles from Basingstoke, visitors to Farnham Castle get two unique looks at British History. The Farnham Castle Keep dates to 1138 and was built by Bishop Henry of Blois. The shell and motte remain today and give visitors the feeling they’ve walked back into the Middle Ages. The Bishop’s Palace has been continuously lived in for some 900 years, and for 800 of those years it was home for the powerful Bishops of Winchester. It now serves as an active international conference center. There are excellent audio tours of both the Keep and Palace available.
