Employees Leave Me Not

By Ian Kleine

An employee that is satisfied with his current position is one that knows what to do, what is expected of him, and where he should stop.

Should he suddenly face a change he or she is not comfortable with, be it a change of pace, shift, work or schedule, he and management immediately develops friction; one that is unhealthy and creates terrible stress that can affect the work condition and total outlook of that employee to his company.

Sometimes, an employee may also want to wish to leave should he be unable to determine what he or she is supposed to do. Often, the supervisor or the manager is the main cause as to why most employees leave. Their inability to effectively lead their group is what causes these things to happen. The loss of a clear cut direction also affects the employee’s morale. It is up to the manager to make sure that the employee feels safe and that he or she is wanted and is important to the organization.

Another factor that could affect employees is their inability to free speech. If the employee cannot express his or her opinions, the general idea is that he or she is unwelcome and does not belong here. The management should see to it that the employee receives the attention that he or she truly deserves.

Another reason that is usually overlooked is employee misplacement. Most employees are not located well enough to have their talents used to maximum efficiency. This condition of inefficiency causes them dissatisfaction and often times leads to dissent and, sooner or later, immediate vacation of the position. The manager should make sure that each employee is utilized according to his or her talent and rank.
