The Caribbean islands are known for their beautiful beaches, turquoise seas and long, sunny days, but they have something else to offer- great food! From the most upmarket restaurants to homely bistros and cafes, the Caribbean has something for everyone, and here are just a couple of examples of what you can find on these wonderful islands.

We start with Grace’s Cottage, a small gourmet restaurant situated near some villas in Turks and Caicos. Food served here is of Caribbean heritage but with a modern twist, and with an abundance of fresh ingredients to be found on the islands, even the more simple meals taste delicious, light, and tend to be incredibly healthy- perfect for those of us who want to keep ourselves looking trim for sunbathing the next day! Key flavours tend to include the conventional Caribbean fares of mango and coconut, along with some more exclusive ingredients such as truffles. The restaurant itself is traditional yet fresh in style, and of course there is the opportunity to eat outdoors in the warm Caribbean evenings.

The island of Barbados is not necessarily known for its amazing restaurants, but the Fisherpond Great House is something a bit different. It may only be available to the public for one meal a week, Sunday lunch, but what a lunch that is! Dining here is quite an experience, as it’s rather more like visiting an old friend- indeed, that is how the owners, John Chandler and his wife, would describe it. Traditional Barbados culture seeps out of every nook and cranny of the 350 year old plantation home that this restaurant is based in.  The food is, once again, real Caribbean fare, with an emphasis on fresh fish and vegetables, but in this case it’s the surroundings and personal feel of the place that makes this a special and worthwhile dining experience.

For something entirely different, there’s the Boston Jerk Centre in Jamaica. Not as much a restaurant as a collection of open-air stands, this is a popular spot for lunch for both tourists and locals alike. The vendors holler to passers-by, attracting them to the open, fiery pits that are roasting a range of different meats, from the best pork in Jamaica to chicken or even lobster. Traditional side dishes accompany the meats and can include rice and peas or breadfruit. It may not be haute cuisine, but many claim that the treats on offer at the Boston Jerk Centre easily rival that of it’s more expensive fellow restaurants- but at a much more affordable price!

A cruise ship is a passenger ship used for joyful journeys, where the journey itself and the ship’s facilities are part of the experience. Sailing has become a most significant part of the tourism industry.
Cruise ships mostly trigger on routes that revisit travelers to their originating port. Committed transport oriented sea liners usually transport travelers from one point to another, instead on round trips. Bigger cruise ships make their longer journeys and they come back to the starting port after many months. The rising section of sailing is in the Baltic Sea.
But according to 2008 information the Mediterranean cruise market is growing fast. Italy is on main situation as a place of travel for European cruises and also for the whole of the Mediterranean basin.
