Have you got a travel bucket list? You may have one, although you may call it by another name. It doesn’t matter what you call it as long as you have a list of dream destinations. That should be a good incentive to plan and make the plans reality. If you are looking for places to visit, and you need a little help, here is something that will do you some good. The guys at Travel+Leisure have done some serious research to come up with a list of the most visited tourist destinations around the world. If you want to make sure that you are not left out, then you might want to start making plans to visit these places as well. Here they are, in no particular order, and hand-picked by yours truly.
New York City
The original list actually does not mention the entire city, but specific places such as Times Square and Central Park. Who does not recognize these locations by name? Countless people from around the globe have also seen both locations thanks to Hollywood. Without a doubt, a visit to the Big Apple is one of the “musts” for the world traveler, if only because of Times Square and Central Park.
Las Vegas Strip
Sin City it may be called, but it’s not all about “bad” things. There are countless things that visitors can enjoy in Las Vegas, from staring in awe at the Bellagio fountains to people watching. And of course, there are the casinos and all sorts of other entertainment events.
Grand Bazaar, Istanbul
Istanbul is a myriad of colors, sights, flavors, and sounds, and the best place to purchase something to take home with you is the Grand Bazaar. From ceramics to carpets to coffee to kebabs – I don’t think there is anything you will find missing in this bazaar. It is not called grand for nothing!
Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris
Paris itself has so much to offer its visitors, but the Notre Dame undoubtedly receives more than its fair share. Gothic architecture at its finest, with a rich history surrounding it; this cathedral is a perfect place to feed your soul in more ways than one.
Forbidden City, Beijing
What’s the best way to get someone to do something? Tell him it’s forbidden! That’s not exactly the case with this royal compound in Beijing, but it used to be quite an exclusive area. Lucky for the world, the 178-acre compound has been made open to the public. More than the imperial buildings, the gardens are a sight to behold as well.

Seven days in New York City is just enough time to taste the best and still have plenty of energy left to play hard in the city that never sleeps. It may be a very busy visitor attraction but you couldn’t visit New York without seeing the Empire State Building. The Top of the Rockefeller Center probably has the better view and who’s arguing at more than 250m up, but expect to queue and be prepared for times when you cannot see anything in bad weather. Taking a ferry trip and stopping off at the former immigration center on Ellis Island will allow great views of the Statue of Liberty without the long delays that have been normal since 9/11.
