The Best Ways to Travel to Rome

Traveling to Rome should not cost a fortune, you do not always have to go by plane.  If you are in Europe already you  can take the train or bus and explore the beautiful countryside.

By Plane

If you book well in advance then you will not have to pay extortionate amounts.  There are deals from £43.99 from London Gatwick with EasyJet.  Tuesdays tend to be the cheapest day to travel.  British airways has deals from £81 and that is including luggage allowance, plus you do not have to fight everyone to get a seat on the plane as you seat has already been allocated.

Go by Train

Italy is in the centre of Europe, well served by different train routes.  You can take the train from most places in Europe to Rome.  Rail Europe offer a variety of routes.  If you are taking a tour of Europe, why not buy an inter rail pass and come to Italy.  There aer also high speed and Eurostar trains, but you have to buy the ticket before you board.  You can buy at the station (but there are very long lines) or you can buy your tickets at travel agencies or on the Trenitalia website.

Go by Bus

There are  lots of different bus companies for those wanting to see Europe. Busabout is an American company that also offers entertainment and accommodation.  If you are traveling by yourself or with a friend, take the bus as you will meet a lot of like minded people. It is cheaper than the train, but it will take you more time. If you do not want to travel with a lot of other tourists, you can get buses from the Tiburtina train station.

Staying in Rome

The area around the main train station Termini has budget hotels.  But there is a higher rate of crime in this area than in other places in Rome.  Some people book rooms in a convetn as they are clean, big and friendly service at a much cheaper price than in the regular hotels. Alternatively, there are many Rome apartments for rent in the city.

There are lots of ways to get to Rome.  If you are time poor, flying is the quickest. However if you are on a budget and are time rich, you can take the train or bus and will see so much more of the country as a result.

Holidays in Lanzarote

Volcanic LanzaroteLanzarote is part of the Canarian archipelago. A group of seven islands located off the coast of Africa which are often referred to as Europe´s Hawaii. Thanks to their volcanic terrain and great year round climate.

The Canaries first started to emerge as a popular holiday destination during the 1970´s – as package tourism started to take off in Spain. And are now established as the second most popular destination in the country, second only to Catalonia.

Lanzarote is located at the far eastern end of the group – and is more arid than the other islands. Boasting lower rainfall and less flora as a result. As a huge series of eruptions here in the 1730´s covered much of the interior in lava, whilst creating hundreds of new volcanic peaks in it’s wake.

As you’d expect from a well established tourist destination Lanzarote boasts great beaches – over 90 in fact. With some, such as Famara and Papagayo, regarded as amongst the best in the Canaries. The beaches here are also comprised of golden sands – as opposed to the black grains that predominate on the other islands.
