5 Things to Remember When Emigrating

Emigrating is a huge step and a decision very carefully made.  As some people do it with an optimistic view, others feel it is necessity to make this move.

  1.  Preparation time.

Emigrating is no sudden decision and planning has to take place over a period of least 18 months to two years.  There are a lot of aspects such as legal documentation, financial planning and personal risks involved.  Moving your household to another country is a serious topic and one which may take some members of the family time to grow accustomed to. A move to an area that would cause serious culture differences can have a huge affect on people, which can lead to depression and unstable family relationships.

  1. Elements from your house

Clean breaks always sound nice when making a huge move such as emigrating.  Once you’re in that foreign country you’ll start missing some elements of your house “back home”.  It is always a good idea to drag along an old favorite couch, portrait or maybe the dining table you and your friends had your last dinner party together at, with all those scratches and stains.  These elements are consistent, and will get you through those times of loneliness and doubt.  Its sentimental value will also increase during those times.

  1.  Don’t burn bridges

When leaving a country such as South Africa, don’t bad mouth it.  If you had some bad experiences here, get over it, because you will miss your home country even if it’s hard to admit.  Don’t tell everyone in the new country how bad it is and then, after a few months go visit friends and family in South Africa.  As an emerging country you might be proud one day.  Another important aspect is to leave this country with peace in your heart, just to avoid stress.

Also ensure you give someone you trust general power of attorney to deal with legal matters on your behalf, with all bridges burned this can be a problem.

  1. With a clear conscience you can now make new friends, easy

It is hard to start over, especially where no one looks familiar and they are not in need of any friends.  You have to try harder just because you’re new, to get their attention, still be yourself. If you don’t like someone don’t be friends, just because you feel sorry for them.  Friends are actually people you want to spend time with.

5 Tips to Balance Your Time During the Holidays

The holidays are not a time for relaxation or for letting the days pass by sluggishly. The holidays are a time for getting as much done as possible in the short month you have between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most people are even starting before Thanksgiving in an attempt to get as much done as possible. This holiday season, learn how to balance your time so that you can get as much done as you want, without neglecting the more important things. Don’t let the glitter of extreme Christmas decorating take away from quality time with your family. Stop yourself from doing poorly on final exams because you went to yet another ugly sweater party. Here are 5 ways to balance your time during the holidays:

  1. Set aside family time. For most people, the holidays are a time to be with the people they are closest too. Often, other things of lesser importance get in the way. To avoid this, schedule out your time with close friends and family before things get hectic. Make sure that time is committed to them and make it non-negotiable. If you have to miss a work party or a charity event to be with family, then do it.
  2. Shop early. If you already missed the pre-Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping, there’s still time to get your shopping done early. Most people have the false impression that there remains yet another full month before they need to have their shopping done, but don’t let this thought fool you. The business of doing other things will make the time fly by. Start buying presents and wrapping them as soon as you read this—there’s no time to delay!
  3. Learn to say no. If you already have a full plate and someone asks you to do yet one more thing, you are in no way obligated to say yes. Instead, learn the fine art of saying “no”. You don’t have to be mean or rude about it, you can explain your situation to the person and kindly let them know that you won’t be available. But be warned, some people may still be upset with your denial, despite your efforts and kindness. If this is the case, don’t sweat it, you wouldn’t have done a good job if you had overworked yourself and you would have been forced to neglect things that were more important to you.
  4. Learn to cheat. If you don’t have the time to cook an entire homemade meal, it’s ok to cheat on a few things. Instead of making homemade bread and homemade pies, make the bread and buy your pie from a store this year.

It’s Family Time

A family time is time spent just with the for fun and love with one another. It is a time of bonding and reuniting together, which brings a closeness. It’s a time to love and laugh with one another, and spend that quality time together as a family.

A fun place to go is in the park or beach and walk and play in the sand with the children. There are countless activities that can take place no matter what state or city that you on in, check with the local events channel on the television or internet. I am sure there is something always going on involving families. I live in the city of Houston and every weekend something new has begun.

My favorite place with my family is on the weekend is the park, providing that the weather is nice, we would go the local grocery store and purchase some of our favorite food items. Once we arrive at the park, we say a prayer and indulge in the activities and then its eating time. The kids enjoy themselves so much until when its over, and is time to go, they are asleep before we arrive home.

Another nice family time is at the children’s museum, the kids will be amaze at the different sculptures and figurines. They always have a performance going on to entertain the kids. It is education and enlightening for people of all ages.

The activity of miniature golf is a all time favorite of both kids and adults. My 10 year old really like this sport, it was a challenge for him. If the weather is permitted the beach is a fun place where kids can go and play in the sand and play volleyball or maybe swim in the water. Other activities are also displayed at the beach that they can also get into.

All kids like to go to the mall, even if it is window shop, the arcade room and the movies are places that will entertain them into a day of busyness.

Planning a family time together can be fun and exciting, especially when you allow the kids to help you with the choices. You can plan their favorite eating places and just enjoy hanging out with your family. Taking time with the family can be healing as it nurtures the inner being while bringing a more closeness in your family.
