Things To Do In Brisbane

Brisbane is in the east of Australia, in the state of Queensland. It is a beautiful place, and there is lots to keep the visitor entertained.

 

Cruises

There are all kinds of really superb sightseeing cruises to take from Brisbane.  This is a city built around water, and the water is one of the best ways to see it. The Brisbane River runs through the heart of the city and opens up into the breathtaking Moreton Bay. Have your camera at the ready and keep your eyes peeled to dolphins!

 

Climbing

There are a number of amazing climbs near Brisbane. It is not a mountainous region, but that doe not mean that the climbs are any the less challenging. One of the best loved spots is Kangaroo Point. This is pretty central to Brisbane and has cliff faces that bare the legacy of the mining activity of an earlier time. There are climbs suited to all abilities.

Shopping

For the shopaholic Brisbane does not disappoint. With everything from big department stores and vast shopping malls to small boutique retailers, there is something for every taste. If your other half  is not as interested in the idea of shopping as you are there are plenty of friendly pubs you can leave them in, secure in the knowledge they won’t have an empty glass.

 

Fishing

There is some great fishing to be had in the river, Moreton Bay, and beyond. Species such as Threadfin Salmon, Bream and Catfish can be found in the river, and there are no shortage of fishing charters who will take you further out.

 

Whale watching

Seeing these amazing behemoths will be something that you never forget. Every year from July to November pods of Humpback Whales can be spotted migrating from the cold water of the south to give birth to their young. Whale watching cruises combine spotting these beasts with a fascinating commentary that will see you learn a lot about these mysterious mammals.

 

Sight Seeing

Brisbane is fairly compact, which makes it the ideal city to explore with walking tours. Different tours are available, some even taking time to stop for photo opportunities with koalas. As always it is the guides that add the value to these kinds of tours, and you will inevitably get much more from the experience than if you had just wandered the route by yourself.

 

Theme parks

If theme parks are your thing, then Brisbane is going to be your kind of place. The Gold Coast is a magnet for this kind of attractions, and there are plenty to choose from. Warner Bros.

Dubai’s Most Expensive…

Dubai is a city seemingly built on accumulated money. In its past there was trade and oil: now, buildings and produce seem to be built exclusively on the emirate’s reputation for expense and ostentatiousness. Dubai is constantly setting records for the tallest, longest, biggest, most expensive, clawing back its prestige from who ever dares to out build them.

It’s true to say that Dubai holidays cater for a vast range of incomes. But when it comes to expense in Dubai, this is what you’ve got to look out for:

Airport – Al Maktoum International Airport

We start our journey of expense in Dubai just as most journeys are started: landing on the tarmac. Of course, within a area of even Dubai’s size, it’s not like there are many airports, so the distinction of being ‘the most expensive’ isn’t especially significant on its own. But Dubai International Airport (and the imminent construction of the Al Maktoum International Airport nearby) simply astounds in terms of scale and expense.

As well as being an obvious draw itself, Dubai handles a significant amount of Middle Eastern traffic, also providing a convenient central point from and two anywhere in Afro-Eurasia. In 2010 it handled 47.2 million people, making it the fourth busiest airport in the world (eight for cargo). The latest terminal cost $4.5 billion, and it even has a $50 million ‘flower center’ handling the import and export of flowers. But this pales in comparison to the Al Maktoum site, which is being built with specialist runways for the biggest super-jumbos, two full-size golf courses, onsite hotels and other trappings. Setting the groundwork for such a project has already cost $33 billion.

Is Dubai International Airport expensive for you? Well, it houses one of the most important of shopping malls in the city. If your tastes run to $13,000 caviar, you may want to pop into the airport’s Caviar House and Prunier, where dishes are often airfreighted from Paris and the rest of Europe at great expense.

Dubai may be famous for its extravagant buildings, but its billionaires often take to the seas to escape the locals. The Dubai, originally called ‘Platinum 525’, was actually originally built by German shipyard, Blohm + Voss, builders of the infamous Bismarck and an important name in German industry. Now, 80% of the company is owned by the Abu Dhabi Mar Group, and the yacht ended up at the neighbouring emirate of Dubai when purchased by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the absolute monarch of Dubai.

MAURITIUS – A DREAM DESTINATION

MauritiusMauritius is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The island got its independence from the British in the year 1968.The languages spoken are French and Creole. The island has been described by a poet as the original heaven on the lines of which the heaven is created. The island has been divided into 9 divisions for the convenience of administration. The climate is tropical on account of its proximity to Tropic of Capricorn.

A traveler can plan the itinerary to Mauritius on the four directions North, East, south, and south-east. Grand Bay is a popular tourist place in the north. It has a beautiful beach by name “La Cuvette”. It has shopping malls, restaurants, and is also famous for night life. A public beach with pubs and shopping areas can be found in Pereybere. The biggest Hindu temple, the Maheshwarnath built in honor of lord Shiva can be visited in Troilet which is the longest village of the island.

The East has more of native attractions of the island. A colorful open market where the inhabitants of the east, meet in the village “Flacq” One of the most beautiful beaches of Mauritius which should not be skipped by a traveler is “Ile aux Cerfs”.It is a water sports paradise. South-east has not lagged behind in offering the traveler the beauty of Mauritius.
